Now the films go head to head
26th October 2009
The Warren Miller Entertainment group is suing another film company who the real Warren Miller has worked for. This week each company’s films come out in the UK. Confused? Read on.
The problems start from the fact that the real Warren Miller, now in his 80’s, has absolutely nothing to do directly with films that bear his name and get released each Autumn.
He sold out the rights long ago.
However he did the voice over for another company, Level 1 Productions, in its film Refresh and Warren Miller Entertainment turned to its lawyers for help in the matter. We covered the original story here on PlanetSKI and are currently working on a follow-up story that will get past our lawyers so we can explain exactly what is going on – we hope to bring that to you next week.
It is fascinating and involves some very outspoken remarks from the real Warren Miller about what he thinks of WME.
WME say some interesting things in return.
Who was it in the music business that said “Where there’s a hit there’s a writ?”
Seems the same is true in the film world.
In the meantime the films themselves are coming out.
On Wednesday the latest WME film, Dynasty, goes on show in the UK.
Then the next day at The Clapham Grand in London the Level 1 production, Refresh, begins its screenings before it goes in to the Chill Factore in Manchester on Monday 2nd November.
Please note that licensing restrictions only allow over-18s into the event and ID must be produced to guarantee entry.
