The UK snowboarders Ben Kilner and Dom Harrington strutt their stuff. It may be a couple of weeks ago but so what?

Both guys are in the British Half Pipe team warming up on the half pipe for the whole string of competitions prior to the Vancouver Olympics.

Whilst practising each of them managed to eye up the brand new pipe being carved out of the Alalin Glacier in Saas-Fee in preparation for the November FIS World Cup event that takes place this weekend.

PlanetSKI was in Saas-Fee in mid October and watched many of the snowboarding teams in training.

The most promintent in our opinion were the French team who were out in all conditions including snow, fog and the sunnier weather.

Both Harrington and Kilner then returned to London to compete in the Freeze at Battersea Power Station.

Kilner came 14th, whilst Harrington tagged behind at 36th place.  They only have to be within the top 40 to qualify for the Olympics.

1.  Kazuhiro KOKUBO – Japan
2.  Mathieu CREPEL – France
3.  Peetu PIIROINEN – Finland

The video below shows Kilner and Harrington in Saas Fee practising before coming to London for the Freeze at Battersea.

Now here at PlanetSKI we can’t pretend the questions are exactly the most penetrating, but it is not our video………. Video courtesy of MPORA.

And now they’re off to Barcelona.

In Barcelona, all eyes will be focused on Stefan Gimpl, the Austrian snowboard veteran who was able to successfully compete and win against all the young guns and rising stars on his 30th birthday at the London Freeze which also marked his 7th World Cup triumph.

Gimpl, from Salzburg also managed to beat Switzerland’s Gian-Luca Cavigelli and Domen Bizjak from Slovenia to second and third place respectively.

Watch this space for Barcelona results on 7th November, closely followed by Stockholm on 21st November.
