Snow arrives in Oz

Winter has started after a poor start in Australia. It seems to have been put on hold in NZ and the best conditions remain in South America. We look at winter in the southern hemisphere.

It has taken a bit of time coming as we reported earlier on PlanetSKI but now many areas have woken up to winter.

Perisher, Falls Creek, Mount Hotham have all see some of the white stuff with up to 40cm falling in places and there is due to be another storm across some fo the ski areas later in the week.

And this is what it looks like.

And it’s looking none too shabby in the Australian resorts of Mt Hotham and Perisher.

The New Zealand ski season got off to a good start as we reported earlier this month but it seems to have stalled.

In Sydney, Australia, at  the weekend it was 10C in Sydney, making it colder than Christchurch, 11.1C, Auckland 15C and Wellington, 11.2C in New Zealand.

But the places for snow remain Chile and Argentina – we will be bringing you news and pictures from South America later today.

In the meantime check out our report from earlier with some stunning images.
