A cold snap brought powder snow to the glacier resorts last weekend boosting snow levels. As the temperatures have now shot up in Europe you may want to see some cooling pictures from the Alps. UPDATED

It was snowing down to 1,600m in places at the end of last week with 30cm at altitude.

In Switzerland the the Furka Pass and the Nufenenpass were blocked by snow on Thursday.

There was snow on the main Gottard pass, but it remained open.

It is welcome for those out in the Alps for summer skiing.

“Epic summer skiing day! Best summer ski conditions in years,” said Rob Stanford.

He works for the Warren Smith Ski Academy and is currently out in Cervinia in Italy skiing on the glacier above the resort.

The Austrian glacier resort of Hintertux in the Tirol has seen some snow and there has been some in the French glacier resort of Tignes.

It looked rather inviting with blue sky overhead on Friday.

For an article on the best resorts for summer skiing in the Alps and what it’s like see this earlier story on PlanetSKI.

The temperatures are set to warm up this week but the snow has given the glaciers and very welcome top-up of fresh snow.

Meanwhile there has also been some snow Down Under – see this PlanetSKI report on conditions in New Zealand where the snow has finally arrived.

It also contains videos from Australia and South America.

Do check back later as we will be updating this article with further images and information from the Alps.
