SNOW FALLS IN THE ALPS

A cold snap brought powder snow to the glacier resorts last weekend boosting snow levels. As the temperatures have now shot up in Europe you may want to see some cooling pictures from the Alps. UPDATED
It was snowing down to 1,600m in places at the end of last week with 30cm at altitude.
In Switzerland the the Furka Pass and the Nufenenpass were blocked by snow on Thursday.
There was snow on the main Gottard pass, but it remained open.
It is welcome for those out in the Alps for summer skiing.
“Epic summer skiing day! Best summer ski conditions in years,” said Rob Stanford.
He works for the Warren Smith Ski Academy and is currently out in Cervinia in Italy skiing on the glacier above the resort.

These images were posted on Saturday morning.
Further east in Switzerland there has been snow in the St Moritz area.
The Austrian glacier resort of Hintertux in the Tirol has seen some snow and there has been some in the French glacier resort of Tignes.
It looked rather inviting with blue sky overhead on Friday.

The temperatures are set to warm up this week but the snow has given the glaciers and very welcome top-up of fresh snow.
