SNOW IN UK SKI RESORTS
9th November 2016
All the focus might be on the Alps as huge amounts of snow falls and resorts open, but lets not forget the UK. Our ski areas are seeing some significant snowfall too.
It’s only the first half of November and there has been some snow in England and in the Scottish Highlands.
Winter is definitely on the way.
The Lake District Ski Club has featured some snowy images in its Facebook page.
One of its club members commented, “Got a reasonable amount of fresh snow on the runs, with some drifting due to the snow fences.”
“Average depth around 5-6 inch and over one foot or more in drifts. Temp was around or slough to above freezing at the engine hut, freezing just above this point. Viz wasn’t the best, but it was nice to be back in the white room again.” 😎
Did you even know there is a ski area in the Lake District in England?
Conditions are looking distinctly wintry in Scotland.
This video was posted mid morning at Cairngorm Mountain on 7th November, showing an early start to winter with some lovely snow cover.
“This early cold weather will not last” says The Lecht on Facebook. [/caption]
The video below shows a little dusting of snow on the way to Glenshee.
Snow is building at Glenshee Ski Centre ready for this year’s winter sports season.
Glenshee comment on Facebook, “No skiing or snowboarding yet but we will post on this page as soon as we have enough snow to open.”

We’ll be reporting back with news as soon as there’s more information on skiing in the UK.
