From sports competitions to festivals, Michelin stars to yoga for athletes, the resort has a lot on the agenda this season.

Verbier in the 4 Vallées has plenty of winter sunshine and the most extensive slopes in Switzerland.

The summits reach 3300m at Mont-Fort, so you can imagine the incredible panoramic views in Verbier, from the Combins, the Cervin and Mont Blanc peaks.

The extreme ski hot-spot offers some exhilarating off-piste skiing, too, and let’s not forget all the hang-gliders, paragliders and wingsuit flyers that converge here for their sports.

The sophisticated town of Verbier offers high end entertainment and some serious après…

Yes, we’re intruiged too…

Opening in December 2018 is the exciting project built from the success of the Experimental Cocktail Club in London, Paris and Ibiza.

Gregory Machand, the owner of ‘Frenchie’ on Rue de Nil in Paris as well as its London outpost in Covent Garden, and three other Frenchmen have brought their flair for exceptional service to the mountains with The Experimental Chalet.

The chalet will have 39 rooms, a restaurant, a cocktail bar and club, a spa, a steam room and a solarium.

Priced from CHF 350/ £276 per-room per-night, including breakfast.

The food at The Experimental Chalet

Mountain food with contemporary flair, is what Machand has called his work in the kitchen, to match Fabrizio Casiraghi’s casually elegant design of the chalet.

Hearty Alpine classics like rösti, spaetzle, aligot and tartiflette are lightened up; line-caught fish from crystal mountain lakes are prepared with care, accompanied by fresh, sustainably sourced salads and vegetables.

The are family friendly dishes as well – coquillettes and cheese, cordon bleu – afternoon snack hour with treats for all, and round-the-clock bar snacks so guests can pop in anytime.

Breakfast, one of Marchand’s specialities, has been designed with special care: house-made granolas, sweet and savory cakes, waffles, egg dishes, fresh juices, and a full complement of viennoiserie.

Then there’s the bar and, downstairs, the Farm House club which has been a legendary Verbier hotspot for 45 years.

In the bar you’ll find signature craft cocktails, fine wines and spirits, and it’s an ideal hideaway for après-ski get-togethers, pre-dinner apéritifs or a launchpad for a bigger night.

There’s more…

Decorating the path between Ruinettes and La Chaux at 2,300m is the 3D Sculpture Park.

Inspired by the alpine surroundings, artists around the world have created structures to blend with the natural alpine environment.

These can be seen by foot, skis or on snow shoes.

The sculptures form part of a five-year project by artists, locals and scientists to raise awareness about the plight of the local glacial environment.

The 2018-2019 artist residency is filled by James Capper who will draw on the 200-year anniversary of the chaotic crevassed Giétro Glacier and its many avalanches of 1818 as inspiration for the new designs.
