POLITICS, PISTE & POWDER

Hands up who’s fed up with politics? Yes, we are too so we’ve gone to Austria for the weekend to get away from it all. Just a couple of days.
It has been an exhausting time lately with the UK utterly divided.
I’ve taken a cheeky last minute trip to Altenmarkt and Zauchensee in the Ski Ski Amadé region in Salzburgerland.
Though we should perhaps give its full, and delightful name: Altenmarkt im Pongau.
‘Where?’ I hear you ask.
Not only have I never skied here before, but I’ve never even heard of it.
All the more reason for visiting in my view.
I have skied the Ski Ski Amadé, but not these little villages.
The village has 17 km of pistes served by 8 ski lifts and is linked in to the larger area of Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl with 65 km of pistes and 25 ski lifts.
It sits in the mighty Ski Ski Amadé area that is one of the largest areas in the world – 760 km of piste and 270 ski lifts
It is under an hour from Saltzburg in easter Austria, by the German border and bills itself as a perfect resort to ‘get away from it all’ on a short break.
I look forward to putting the resort through its paces and seeing what it has to offer for a short break, so do check back.
So, hands up who is currently fed up with UK politics?
Next stop the bar I had seen from outside earlier, the Garnhofhutte.
It was a long way from British politics.
And then it got further.
No apres ski in Austria is complete without a version of this song… though it is not so easy on the squeeze box. 😉
It’s going to be a politics-free zone.
