PlanetSKI takes a 4-day trip to France with Skiweekender to sample the pros & cons of a short ski break. Fancy following our footsteps?

First the pros.

If you looked at PlanetSKI last weekend you will have seen that our editor, James Cove, went for a Thursday to Monday trip and blogged about it all live across the weekend with words, pictures and videos.

James packed it in - everything from skiing little-known resorts, to night skiing, thermal baths, watching the finale of the 6 Nations and of course there was rather a lot of skiing.

Three different resorts from his base in St Jean de Sixt near Annecy (Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod).

And then another three from Saint Gervais near Chamonix (Megeve, St Gervais and St Nicolas de Veroce).

From powder to piste.

From thick cloud to bright sunshine.

But what about his overview of the experience?

"I can't recommend a short break highly enough.

Whether you don't have the time or the money for a full week, or whether you want to squeeze a cheeky extra trip in.

Skiwweekender has been doing short break trips for 15-years and it knows its stuff.

From airport transport transfers (under an hour from Geneva) to ensuring the details like lift passes, ski hire, ski school are all done with the minimum of fuss and maximum of efficiency.

Skiweekender also works with the ESF for lessons.

In Grand Bornand it has a very close partnership and due to the non-standard nature of short breaks it arranges special small group lessons with a team of preferred English- speaking ESF instructors.

Time is not wasted.

The main base hotel, the Aravis Lodge, is well-connected to the ski areas and is basic, but functional - just what you want if skiing is your passion and the main reason for the trip.

I added on a night in St Gervain at the expense of a fourth night in St Jean de Sixt so I could sample its new product for this winter.

Again I can't recommend it highly enough - especially in this bumper snow season.

All I can say is that if you are thinking of a cheeky ski trip before the snow melts then do it and you could do worse than a trip with Skiweekender in my opinion.

Check out the blogs above for the details of what I got up to and you will see what I mean."

And the cons?

There aren't any.

Except that 4-days is not long enough.

But then it never is.
