This man is the only Brit to have climbed all 14 of the world's highest peaks. Respect. Fancy hearing his tales?

Alan Hinkes OBE has teamed up with our friends over at Ellis Brigham for a series of evening talks across the country this autumn.

Our advice here at PlanetSKI is simple.

Put the date in your diary, book yourself a ticket and prepare to hear from one of the most famous British mountaineers of all time.

Alan is an outdoor icon and has climbed all 14 of the world's 8000m mountains - a feat achieved by fewer people than have stood on the moon.

His talks cover many of his best-known expeditions including his numerous trips climbing in the Himalayas where he scaled the 14 8,000m peaks.

We are delighted to say he is also a keen PlanetSKI reader and good friend of ours.

Our editor, James Cove, spent a few days with him in Chamonix earlier this summer.

By chance it coincided with the first ski descent of K2, the second highest mountain in the world and the two spoke about it.

As well as personal accounts about his career climbing in the Himalayas, what drove him to climb all 14 ‘8000ers' and the challenges he faced, Alan will also touch upon his other passions.

These include the UK's hills and mountains, real ale and photography.

Alan is a fountain of outdoor knowledge and these talks will be a don't-miss event for any lover of walking, mountaineering, adventure skiing, climbing or travel.
