Five hot Austrian ski destinations with news to share this coming season; Check out what's new for winter.


Vorarlberg is Austria's westernmost province.

The area has good variety when it comes to the skiing, be it the family-friendly resort of Brandnertal or the 22 quaint villages of the Bregenzerwald.

What's hot this winter?

Skyspace-Lech has just opened in Lech-Zürs am Arlberg.

Designed by internationally renowned artist James Turrell, this so-called "Lightroom" provides a year-round space where sky and earth seem to meet in the high alpine landscape of Lech.

Zell am See - Kaprun

All the delights of winter are nestled between the snowy glacier, beautiful mountain peaks and the shimmering lake of Zell am See - Kaprun.

The ski areas include free ride routes, huge snowparks, ski touring routes and Schmittenhöhe's 360 degree view with more than 30 peaks over 3,000m.

What's hot this winter?

From December 2018 the new MK Maiskogel Lift will be offering Zell am See-Kaprun's guests even more comfort and convenience.

Then there'll be the ultra-modern tri-cable gondola K-onnection to link the Maiskogel with the Kitzsteinhorn to launch in December 2019.

Bad Kleinkirchheim in Carinthia

On the edge of the Nock Mountain Biosphere Park lies a recipe for winter wellness.

As well as the sunny slopes and the skiing, the thermal baths of the Bad Kleinkirchheim ski area make Carinthia a truly relaxing holiday destination.

What's hot this winter?

A second weekly flight that'll transport guests directly to Carinthia on Wednesdays and Saturdays, following on from the successful launch of EasyJet's London Gatwick - Klagenfurt route last winter.

The Zillertal is simply a winter paradise.

Skiers and snowboarders have 530km of piste to play on from pleasant carving slopes, to long, sporty valley runs and demanding routes for experts.

Nine fun runs offer thrills for people of all ages and adrenalin junkies can further choose from seven fun parks and several easily accessible freeride routes.

What's hot this winter?

The new luxury hotel and restaurant, Albergo.

The upgrades: A new 6-seater chairlift in Königsleiten , as well as the 10-seater Wimbachexpress.

It's one of the largest ski areas in Austria (suitable, with one of the longest names).

There's on-piste and off-piste fun, and it's known for the cosy huts for touring fans.
