FANCY A NEW RESORT NEXT WINTER?
Monday October 15, 2018 - Email this article to a friend

3 Zinnen, the Lyngen Alps, Crans Montana - some names for new ideas on where to ski this coming season. NEW

It's easy to get drawn year-in year-out to the same kinds of ski resort.

It's often the same names that come up again and again when talking about skiing in England.

But come crunch time - i.e. booking that ski trip - it's so easy to forget the thousand other places to ski: the unique ones; the ski areas that don't come out top of the search engine lists.

Even if we do want a big name resort, one that's tried and tested and has everything you need, there are alternatives to the ones us Brits flock to.

The Germans love Alta Badia, for example, in the Dolomites. And in the Pyrenees in Ax les Thermes all you'll hear is French on the slopes while the Spanish hang out over the border in Andorra's Grandvalira...

Ski Solutions has just this, some options for different ski spot, as well as different kinds of ski trip.

Have you heard of the Lyngen Alps?

It's a Norwegian mountain range and certainly a novel ski location;

The mountains are right on the sea, so you can ski with the most fantastic views and stay down on the water.

Ski Solutions of offering the Three Peak Trips in the Lyngen Alps - a four-day, three-night experience.

The ski tour is led by guides, adventuring to peaks with unforgettable views.

It's ideal for groups of friends looking to move beyond the regular ski holiday and have a once-in-a-lifetime ski adventure.

Rare for a ski holiday, the holiday includes a day boat trip on the tranquil waters around the lodge.

That's the Lyngen Experience Lodge, home for your Norway stay.

The lodge is located right on the sea (we're talking mere metres) and looks over the water and Ulsfjord.

It's less than two hours from the city of Tromsø by ferry.

There's a sauna and hot tub for those that prefer the warm, and of course you can brave the icy ocean waters.

The Dolomites, Italy

The Dolomite mountain range is a protected UNESCO World Heritage site.

It is the most dramatic and beautiful mountain range with jagged peaks and massivley underskied by British people.

Not only is the scenery in itself worth going for, but skiing in Italy means top notch food with most things half the price of many of the classic Alpine resort choices (but no less quality!).

The 3 Zinnen ski region is comprised of a number of villages, each with their own vibe and style.

Now that sounds like a fun ski adventure/challenge, making your way to a village a day...

The five mountains - Monte Elmo, Stiergarten, Croda Rossa, Passo Monte Croce and Col d'la Tenda - are connected at the centre of the 3 Zinnen for skiing.

And, in keeping with true Italian style, aside from the ski focus the 3 Zinnen resort claims to be the ideal place for relaxation with an incredibly chilled atmosphere.

Ski Solutions has just launched here with properties in Sexten and San Candido.

Sexten (or Sesto as it is sometimes known) is a large town in the middle of the ski resort with access to all lifts and the 2,920m of vertical descent to explore.

Sexten is great for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, has sunny downhill slopes and traditional rifugio huts for stop offs throughout the day.

San Candido, on the other hand, is tucked away in the ski area.

It's a picturesque ski town with top views and quality runs.

It's a quiet resort so perfect for families and those looking to maximise their time on the slopes with minimal queueing.

There are children's play runs and toboggan runs, so plenty to keep little ones amused on the snow, all whilst improving their snow confidence.

San Candido Despite was a charming market town and is now home to a vast array of shops and restaurants.

There is also an in-resort spa for those looking to unwind and relax their ski legs after a day on the slopes.

More on the Dolomites ('cos they really are insane)...

Ski Solutions has launched holidays in Paganella, Trentino with properties in Andalo, Molveno and Fai della Paganella.

Paganella (officially named Fai della Paganella) is rich in Trentino's mountain heritage and overlooks the beautiful lake of Molvena.

With access to 50km of groomed piste, doubling when you include all the tree-skiing and off-piste, there is plenty for skiers and boarders to explore.

From Paganella, skiers can access the towns of Molveno and Andalo.

Extend your lift pass to ski further over to Madonna di Campiglio and Folgaria ski resorts.

Crans Montana in Switzerland has seemed to escape the British radar - appealing? - despite being a gorgeous, high-end and easy to reach resort.

Not to mention a sunny one... If you're guaranteed sun anywhere, it'll be here.

The reason it's so sunny is because it's open, meaning the views are to boot - you can see from Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn.

It sits high up on a south facing plateau, above vineyards and close to Verbier.

Being a quick one to reach from the airport (by train and funicular) it's a great option for short breaks.

Ski Solutions is offering four night breaks for around £595, which includes bed & breakfast, flights & transfers.

There's the 'pay 3 nights get 1 free' offer, as well as a wider range of hotels with 'pay 5 stay 7'.

These deals have been extended until the end of November and runs along side the buy-one-get-one-free lift pass deal.
