Purple Ski runs seven of the finest chalets in Meribel.

Each is unique and offers guests something really special on a winter holiday.

The chalets are a step above the rest (trust us, read on...) with first-class facilities, excellent service and exquisite food and wine.

"In a nutshell, it's for the chalets that guests first come to stay with Purple Ski, but it's for the service that they return year after year," Purple Ski says.

Over the years, the royal-coloured company has hosted more than 10,000 clients, from families, friends and high profile corporate groups to members of the aristocracy.

"It's the finer details that make all the difference."

"It's why we do everything we can to ensure your Purple Ski experience exceeds your expectations."

The perfect skiing holiday isn't just about skiing, Purple Ski rightly reports.

It's about the entire experience.

The ease of getting to and from the slopes, the comfort and relaxation at the end of the day and, of course, the exquisite food and wine that makes breaka away something really special.

Chalet Iona, MeribelChalet Iona, Meribel

Hard to choose (so we did so at random) we'll take a look at just one of the gorgeous residences Purple Ski runs, and all that comes with it.

Chalet Iona is a spacious chalet that sleeps 12 people, with two small neighbouring chalets available to sleep even bigger parties.

Located just outside of Meribel, Chalet Iona is set in its own secluded orchards.

And, like all Purple Ski chalets, it has a chauffeured minibus service to take you in and out of town and to and from the slopes whenever you need.

There are breath-taking views from the full height windows across the 13 pretty villages and settlements, stretching towards the Vanoise National Park and the 3,400m Grand Bec mountain rising to the east.

Skiing and peace & quiet? We're sold already...

When staying in Chalet Iona it could be hard to not put skiing second when enjoying the comfort of the chalet.

The entrance opens into a large, high-ceilinged living area with a modern open-plan kitchen, inviting seating areas around the suspended fireplace and a huge, hand-made oak dining table close to the large east-facing panoramic windows.

Stairs lead down to an elegant sitting room with a wood burning stove, where there's also a cinema area, reading corners with board games, and out to the jacuzzi terrace.

On the lowest level of Chalet Iona are five bedrooms.

Each has its own style, be it art deco or Biedermeier furniture, and each has its own bath or shower room.

And just in case you're on the fence, here's a guest review to sum up what staying at this Purple Ski place is like:

"The chalet somehow combines traditional chalet style with an impressive range of modern technology, making it the most luxurious home away from home.

"It is equipped with everything our family could possibly have wanted."

All seven chalets have outdoor hot tubs, and six have either a steam room/hammam or sauna.

Like we said, it could be hard to get out onto the slopes... But if you do it's more than a luxurious place toreturn to; these facilities are great to soothe aches and pains, helping to keep skiers and snowboarders injury-free and on top form for skiing.

There's more, too.

Purple Ski employs in-house therapists for massage and beauty treatments.

Massages cost €75 per 50 minute session and €55 for a 25 minute session for those really looking to get into the holiday spirit.

Other services include hairdressing, facials, manicures and pedicures.

The Purple Ski food philosophy

Is food not something that determines where we go on holiday?

In winter, snow. But surely still food as well?

In fact what could go better than skiing hard and truly earning all the wonderful food available in the mountains.

Beautiful food and wine are central to the Purple Ski experience.

Start your day with a breakfast of kings with fruit juices, smoothies, coffee, tea, yoghurts, cereals, porridge, and something hot such as 'Eggs Royale' or a Full English, as well as jambon cru, cheeses, fresh fruit salad, fresh bread and freshly baked croissants and jams.

Only to look forward to returning from the slopes to homemade cakes and biscuits in the sitting room.

Purple Ski starts off each evening just right, with canapés and champagne.

But dinner is the pièce de résistance.

Beautiful food calls for exceptional chefs, all of whom are fully qualified professionals with experience in top quality restaurants.

With free reign to do what they do best, the Purple chefs use their creativity and flair to turn the finest ingredients into works of art.

An exceptional four-course meal is rounded off with freshly ground coffee, a digestif and homemade truffles.

A range of teas, coffees and fresh fruit are available at any time along with Purple Ski's complimentary bar of champagne, wine, spirits, beer and mixers.

A little on the resort

Méribel is at the heart of Les3Vallees - the largest ski area in the world.

All the buildings in the town are constructed in the traditional Savoyarde style from wood and stone.

If you must leave the comfort of the chalet to explore the attractive resort, you'll find an array of bars and restaurants, from the Michelin Starred to the simple, offering crêpes and traditional Savoyarde cuisine.

There's more than the skiing, as well.

Walks around Méribel and Mottaret give views to boot, and many of the mountain restaurants can be accessed from the gondolas.

Sightseeing flights can be taken from the Altiport, then there's the Olympic Ice Rink, swimming pool, a bowling alley, fitness centre, snow-mobiling and shops of every kind.

It seems Purple Ski have thought of everything. If you're looking for a luxe winter holiday, you could be sorted.
