Remembrance Sunday was marked in some of the ski resorts that are already open.

Some resorts in North America offered free lift passes.

One is Sunshine Village in Banff Canada.

"In honour of the men and women who fought, and continue to fight for freedom, we're offering free skiing and snowboarding this weekend (November 9th-11th) for all NATO military and veterans," said a statement from the resort.

It is the same in the nearby resort of Lake Louise.

The resort honoured all active military personnel and veterans by offering them a free day of skiing on Sunday for Remembrance Day.

Meanwhile on November 11th Colorado Parks and Wildlife in the USA gave all veterans and active-duty service members free entry to all 41 state parks.

While many Colorado Ski Resorts honoured Veterans Day with discounted season passes and lift tickets for the 2018-19 season.

Breckenridge in Colorado opened last Wednesday some veterans were allocated seats on the first lift.

"An incredible start to the season. First chair for today's celebrations went to veterans Mike Hafer and Chad Ohmer," said a statement from the resort.

In the Chamonix Valley in the French Alps ceremonies took place at 09:30 in Vallorcine, 10:30 in Argentière, 11:30 in Chamonix and 12:30 in Les Houches.
