NZ RESORT TO OPEN AFTER SUMMER SNOW
Sunday November 25, 2018 - Email this article to a friend

Cardrona opens for the summer with winter snowsports on offer. Not bad as it is the start of summer Down Under! NEW

Cardrona Alpine Resort, near Wanaka, has enough snow to open the beginners' area for skiing, tubing and snow play.

It follows an unseasonal dump of snow on the South Island.

Skiing will initially be available next weekend on December 1st and 2nd, but may be extended for a week, depending on interest.

Cardrona had been planning to open for mountain biking and mountain carting, but with 50cm of snow it seemed rude not to offer a few snow activities too.

They also had a stockpile of snow that had been kept for tubing.

And what's the resort like in the winter?

PlanetSKI visited a few months back on our summer ski tour Down Under:
And it has also been snowing in Australia recently - these image were taken last week:

And if you want to know what it was like back in September as we passed through the ski fields of Australia...

However there are no plans to open the resorts for snowsports.

Yet.
