FIRST WIN IN FIRST RACE FOR NEW GB ATHLETE

In her first race for GB Snowsport Charlotte Bankes wins a Europa Cup event in Pitztal. It bodes well for the future.



It was wasn't a World Cup event, the Europa Cup is one level down, but it is a great start to the next stage of her career as she races for Great Britain.

The snowboard cross athlete has been racing for France but last week it was announced she was swapping nationalities.

We reported on it at the time here on PlanetSKI.

23-year-old Bankes is currently ranked fourth in the world.

She is a three-time World Cup winner and three-time French champion.

She's competed at two Winter Olympics for France but has now decided to represent her home nation.

GB Snowsport has welcomed her victory on Twitter.
