Canada's been cold and dry, while Colorado breaks from the storms and thick & fast snow. Tahoe has been doing best, but what's next? UPDATED

The dig out continues in the west ski resorts around Tahoe.

Overnight Sunday-Monday 48cm was recorded, 80cm in 24 hours.

20cm fresh on Sunday in Aspen, Colorado.

5cm here and there has led to 25cm in the past 3 days in Utah's Park City.

15cm in 48 hours and near to 40cm in 3 days in JAckson Hole, Wyoming.

All round, pretty good for Presidents' Day in the USA, with the west, still leading.

Katie reports on the snow from the Rockies:

Mammoth Mountain in California has announced that it'll remain open until 4th July 2019.

It's got to be one of the longest winters in the world.

And how have they been able to announce it so early?

Why, because of the staggering amount of snow that's fallen already this season.

Mammoth Mountain is leading the America snow-stakes with 11.4 metres this winter.

And more is falling...

A further 30cm of wet snow has fallen in this most recent storm cycle and the temperatures are currently warm.

However, hope is held out for colder temps to come and decent snow to continue.

Jackson Hole wishes everyone a happy Valentine's Day with a powder moustache shot, with 46cm of snowfall in 24 hours, and 72cm in 72 hours.

Winter Park in Colorado had more than 20cm overnight and a perfect powder day for Valentine's.

News is the same from Steamboat with 25cm more or less in 24 hours...

You get the idea.

It's snowing.

Here's to a love-filled day of snow and more snow.

Apparently the snow has been so good in the USA and Canada that rafters are already excited... there is some white water come in the spring.

But until then it is us skiers and snowboarders that are living the excitement.

Good news all round, then.

It's been storm after storm in the mountains in the States.

This coming week is actually looking pretty mellow, compared to what's been in the past month.

Colorado is expecting a modest few inches, compared to the feet and feet that's fallen since late Jauary.

"I heard two dozen times today on the slopes today that it was the best day in a decade," Katie reports back.

"It was certainly a memorable one."

"Fresh lines, waist-deep snow and private descents."

After the incredible snow totals notched up earlier this year in Whistler it's mellowed out.

There's been a total of 780cm

Tahoe resort, Heavenly had more than 150cm this weekend.

No wonder they're feeling it:

In nearby Squaw Valley it was a weekend total of 120cm.

To measure that out, it looks a little like this:

"We had quite the powderful weekend," British Columbia resort RED Mountain reports.

It took 16cm over the weekend, but the skiing looks insanely good, as per usual there.

We'll be updating as another storm cycle rolls in to areas with big ski resorts in North America.

We'll leave you with this one of Utah's Snowbird, which took 30cm Sunday and another 30cm overnight for Monday riding.

That's added to the 180cm it took last week alone...

Our senior news reporter, Katie Bamber, is heading to the United States for some skiing in February later this week.

She's therefore keeping a keen eye on the news out there and thought she'd share some of the fun:

Squaw Valley - Alpine Meadows has had 1.8 metres of snow in the recent snow cycle.

Before it turned blue.

Steamboat is ready for more.

A fresh 4" of snow Tuesday with the forecast calling for another 30cm by Wednesday.

Jackson Hole had 24" in 24 hours on Tuseday 5th (that's 60cm for us metric users) and 3 FEET in 2 days - that's near to a metre.

Here's a run in the Hobacks:

It's a whiteroom kinda week in Aspen.

Banff up in Canada has had temperatures around -15C mid ski day.

It's cold by the looks of things, though it gets a whole lot chillier:

Heavenly ski resort in California has more of the same powder to report.

The sun is peeking out mid Tuesday ski day after 50cm of new snow overnight.

Round 2 is rolling in.

Set to bring more snow to the 190cm storm total.

Snowbird in Utah is sitting on 60cm fresh over 48 hours.

Grand Targhee on the north-west border of Wyoming has had 36cm in 24 hours, over 50cm in 48 and you can bet there's more in the offing.

We fear as we update, more falls and we're behind already.

But we try our best, and snow searching is a hard, hard job.
