BRITISH BOBS SMASH IT!
Tuesday March 5, 2019 - Email this article to a friend

The GB 2-man bobsleigh team comes 4th in the World Championships, despite any official funding. HUGE congrats!

Brad Hall and Nick Gleeson registered a best British finish in 53-years.

They finished 0.25 seconds outside of the medal places.

"With no initial sponsorship or official government backing of the two-man bobsleigh, a lack of equipment, and being from a country which isn't known for its bobsleighing, it did feel like the odds were stacked against us and there was no hope to attain the results we knew we had the potential to achieve," said Brad Hall.

The World Championships took place in Whistler in Canada.

The team is now crowd-funded and sponsored by deVere.

"Thanks to the support and belief from deVere Group, we were able to equal the country's best two-man Championship result for half a century. Without their help, this wouldn't have been possible," Hall said.

"We're now pushing towards the next Olympics!"

Hall and Gleeson said that without the money for the the sled it would be like "Lewis Hamilton driving a Peugeot 106 in Formula 1.",

UK Sport withdrew funding for the bobsleigh programme after GB teams failed to challenge for a medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Great Britain has won the two-man world event twice before.
