Andrzej Bargiel is now training at Gorakshep, as he prepares to ski Everest without supplementary oxygen & without taking his skis off. ROLLING




In 2018 we followed Andrzej Bargiel's adventures in Nepal as he successfully and bravely skied down K2 (8,611m), the second highest mountain in the world.

And, now this Autumn, in his latest audacious attempt to ski down Mt Everest (8,848m), the highest mountain in the world, he will be doing so without supplementary oxygen and without taking his skis off.

We will be following Andrzej's adventure in this rolling blog.... so do check back for regular updates.

Sunday 22nd September


Andrzej Bargiel and the #EverestSkiChallenge team has been acclimatizing at Basecamp while also making preparations for the epic adventure.

The drone operator, BartekBargiel who also accompanied Andrzej on last year's K2 challenge, shot the video below highlighting the route to Camp I complete with ladders.

Once again shot by Bartek Bargiel, the team discuss the plan for the day in the video below.

Monday 9th September


The #EverestSkiChallenge team are close to Everest.

They crew are acclimatizing for the great challenge that Andrzej Bargiel has set himself.

They are currently training at Gorakshep.



Thursday 5th September


Andrzej Bargiel is on his way to Everest.

Andrzej and the #EverestSkiChallenge team started their long walk on 1st September, trekking from Lukla towards Everest.

They are currently acclimatizing in Lobuche, a village en route to Basecamp with 4,910 inhabitants.

It's a small village at an altitude of 4,940m, situated about 150km east of Nepal's capital Kathmandu.

It lies near the foot of the Khumbu Glacier that's only 8.5km SW of Everest Basecamp.

The #EverestSkiChallenge team hope to reach Everest Basecamp within the next 3 days.

Friday 30th August


Andrzej Bargiel, the Polish mountaineer and extreme skier, who plans to ski down Everest (8,848m) in the next few weeks, is now on his way to the mighty mountain.

He made his name last year when he solo climbed K2, the 2nd highest mountain in the world (8,611m), and then skied down its treacherous slopes.

Bargiel and his team, arrived in Kathmandu this week and are now in transit to Lukla en route to Everest basecamp to acclimatise for the ultimate ski challenge.

Watch the video as the #EverestSkiChallenge team wait for the right plane to transfer them from Kathmandu to Lukla (at 2,845m) Tenzig-Hillary Airport.

The #EverestSkiChallenge team includes principle skier Andrzej Bargiel.

His support team including some family members Bartłomiej Bargiel (drone operator) and Grzegorz Bargiel along with Grzegorz Pajak (spiderman and filmmaker) , Jakub Poburka (part of the Tatra Mountain Rescue team), Jakub Gzela (filmmaker), Piotr Snopczyński and Marek Ogień (photographer, and part of the K2 team).

While in Kathmandu the #EverestSkiChallenge team made the video below exploring the meaning of the word Kathmandu.
