ABTA LAUNCHES PUBLICITY DRIVE ON POST-BREXIT TRAVEL
Tuesday September 17, 2019 - Email this article to a friend

The UK Travel Association is offering advice for people travelling to the EU after Brexit. It could have significant implications for skiers.

With the current deadline for Britain leaving the EU just six weeks away the Association of British Travel Agents says it wants to maintain customer confidence.

Its campaign, with adverts on national radio and on social media, addresses some of the questions the travelling public and businesses may have about their ability to the visit the European Union.

It follows a recent presentation to the UK ski industry by ABTA's Director of Brand and Business Development, Victoria Bacon.

She gave delegates at the Ski Launch conference last week a private insight into the work going on inside ABTA and the latest guidance ahead of the new ski season.

Her assessment followed the confirmation that flight schedules between the UK and EU will be unaffected until at least October 2020, even in the event of a no-deal.

Ferries and trains are also due to operate as normal.

With an expected reach of over 5 million the ABTA publicity campaign will run from 17th to 26th September and has been scheduled to help families planning trips during the UK's October school half-term holidays.

"We want to help the public feel confident about booking holidays and travel arrangements, especially over the important half-term period, ABTA's Chief Executive Mark Tanzer said.

"As the government information campaign ‘Get Ready for Brexit' ramps up too, people will realise how they may be affected, raising potential questions about passport validity, healthcare provision, driving permits and taking your pets abroad.

"There will still be many twists and turns in the political process between now and the 31 October so our advice to businesses remains to prepare for a no-deal exit because it still might happen."
