Parents fined for term time holidays
Monday February 20, 2012 - Email this article to a friend

Parents who remove children from school to go on holiday could soon face fines. Ski holidays are much cheaper out of official holidays and some parents take advantage of this.

At the moment head teachers are allowed to hand out two weeks of authorised absence at their discretion. Sometimes this is used for holidays.

It is claimed 4.5 million days of school are missed by pupils going on holidays.

Now the government is considering fining parents.

An announcement is expected shortly.
