Lindsey Vonn has been helping out with the next generation of female skiers in Vail. The Olympic Gold Medalist and World Cup Alpine Ski Champion spent time with a selection of young female skiers in her home resort. One was from the UK.

One of the lucky ones was 11-year old Georgia Rawlins from Kent.

The Rawlins Family was invited on an all expenses day trip to Vail as part of 'Operation Elevation' which aims to surprise guests and exceed their expectations at Vail Resorts.

Her three younger brothers enjoyed a day of skiing with Vail's Children's Ski School. Georgia got to meet Lindsey Vonn.

"Skiing with Lindsey showed me just how much I can do, and how much I enjoy doing it. I had a wonderful day," she said afterwards.

It was part of the Ski Girls Rock programme in the resort.

It offers a lesson inspired and designed by Lindsey Vonn, for girls aged 5-15.

"Lessons consist of no more than four students per group and are led by dedicated female instructors who not only focus on improving skiing skills but empowering girls through the sport and creating opportunities to bond, build confidence and develop teamwork and social skills," said a spokesperson form the programme.

Lindsey Vonn has had a triumphant season and there were fears she might need an operation on a damaged left knee but she has been given the all-clear.

Tests revealed some fraying of the meniscus but no tear.

Her right knee was also tested and is fine.
