Taking children by train to the Alps is perhaps, a more enjoyable way to reach the mountains than road or air. The kids certainly seem to like it according to this video.

So, what is it like for children to take the train to the Alps?

The website, Snowcarbon, that specialises in train travel to ski resorts, decided to find out.

By asking the kids themselves.

Last April the co-founder of snowcarbon, Daniel Elkin, took the train from St Pancras station armed with a camera and a ticket for the daytime Eurostar Ski Train, bound for the Tarentaise region of the French Alps.

"The kids really loved talking about the train," says Daniel. "They clearly treat it like an adventure, a kind of moving play space. The scenery is a big hit, and so are the sliding doors and the café bar. I don't think I came across any bored kids the entire eight hours, although I did see some asleep."

A couple of years ago here at PlanetSKI our content editor, James Cove and his slightly older son, Alex, took the train to the Swiss Alps; see here for that story.

Below is the video of their journey.
