Sun Peaks expands
Saturday August 22, 2015 - Email this article to a friend

Last season it became the second largest ski area in Canada and more terrain is being added for 2015/16.

Last winter more than 500 acres of backcountry terrain was added with extra glade skiing.

It made it second in size to Whistler.

We reported on it here on PlanetSKI.

The resort has 4,270 acres of terrain with 133 runs.

Now further trail work is being completed on West Morrisey and a new chairlift is planned for the area.

Next winter the area will be offering instructor-led tours of the Gil's backcountry area.

There is to be a new kids area next to the base of the Sunburst chairlift that will have a magic carpet.

Also, Sun Peaks will offer new courses specifically for teenagers between 13-years old and 18-years old.

They will be taken into the powder and the terrain park.

And there are to be more courses for women-only groups.

The Ski Sisters program will be available twice a day for six days per week - we reported about it earlier on PlanetSKI.

The pressure-free environment for women has been so popular over its five years of existence that it will more than double in availability this season.

PlanetSKI is hoping to visit the ski resort next winter on a Canadian road-trip we are planning and we look forward to reporting back on all the new developments.
