First heated chairlift for Canada
Wednesday August 26, 2015 - Email this article to a friend

The lift in Sunshine Village Resort is also the first orange one and the first photo of it comes as the first snow falls.

The Teepee Town lift is now installed and ready for the 2015-16 season.

We reported on plans to build it when we were in the resort last winter; see here for that story.

And now it is up.

The lift features heated seats, footrests and protective orange bubble covers.

It gives access to beginner and intermediate runs off the Great Divide chairlift with expansive views of Mountain Assiniboine while also opening up challenging terrain, like local's favourite, the Shoulder and the Teepee chutes.

See here for further details on the resort as we passed through Sunshine on our road trip in Alberta last February.

We were also lucky enough to ski the iconic freeride area of Delirium Dive.

PlanetSKI will be visiting Sunshine Village next winter and look forward to riding the new lift.

For the spirit of the mountains
