The largest ski area in the world has a host of new features for this winter. See this round-up from the snowsports travel agent, Iglu Ski.

There are 8 resorts; Courchevel, La Tania, Méribel, Brides-les-Bains, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Belleville, Val Thorens and Orelle.

The statistics speak for themselves: It has 600kms of slopes with 85% of its terrain above 2,000m.

It is four times larger than the surface area of Paris.

18,000 people, full-time and seasonal workers, are employed and the area generates almost €2b.

There are 172 ski lifts and 75 piste bashers.

It has 2,050 snow cannons that cover 1/3 of the ski area.

Out of its 310 ski runs there are 51 green, 126 blue, 111 red and 30 black.

There are 120kms of cross-country trails.

2,000 french ski school instructors work across its slopes.

There is a combined vertical drop of 62,000 meters - that's seven times the height of Everest.

This winter there are new lifts in Les Menuires, WiFi on the slopes of Meribel and a 900m fun slope in Val Thorens.

We will be bringing you a full feature on all that is new in Les3Vallees shortly on PlanetSKI, but in the meantime here is a summary from one of our partners, Iglu Ski.
