Hochsoelden on offer from Crystal
Tuesday June 21, 2016 - Email this article to a friend

The resort in the Austrian Tirol is added to the Crystal programme for winter 2016/17. NEW

It sits above Soelden at 2,090m and is a small collection of hotels and restaurants with a good position to discover the large glacier ski area.

It is about as snow-sure as it gets and is right on the slopes.

You need to be a reasonable skier or snowboarder as you will need to head down 8km of freshly-groomed piste to join the 145km of slopes in the Soelden ski area.

There are just a few hotels and not much else so this is a resort for those who want to spend a full day on the mountain and then have a quiet evening.

Every hotel is ski-in, ski-out and you will be on the slopes in seconds.

PlanetSKI visited Soelden last winter - see here for our snow report from March that includes some images from Soelden

Crystal's exclusive hotels are:

Pension Ferdinand 2*: A guesthouse with  no-frills accommodation and is good for serious skiers or those on a budget. Breakfast included. From £565 per person.

Hotel Hochsölden 4*: This is a family-run hotel of high quality.  There is an adults-only wellness area, a Finnish sauna and steam room and a whirlpool, which has beautiful views of the Ötzal mountains. Half-board. From £879 per person.

Alpenfriede Hotel 4*:  The hotel, run by the Lengler family since 1936, has  Alpine themes with rustic décor and modern comforts. Tree-trunk coffee tables accompany plush, stylish sofas in the lounge areas and ambient lighting sets the mood in the hotel bar. Half-board. From £965 per person.

Hotel Edelweiss 4*: Good food is a speciality here with a delicious and varied breakfast buffet, full of wholesome food to give you plenty of energy for the day ahead. In the evenings, you can look forward to beautifully presented dishes that taste as good as they look. Half-board. From £1019 per person.

There are some hotel restaurants and bars in Hochsoelden, including the Skybar which has some of the best views in resort.

If you want to visit Soelden down in the valley there is a shuttle bus that runs several times a day.

A taxi costs around €20.
