The Altitude Comedy Festival is moving to a new date before Xmas and is taking place in Mayrhofen in the Austrian Tirol from December 11th. It is also partnering with UK's largest tour operator, Crystal Ski.

The event is run by Marcus Brigstocke and Andrew Maxwell and has seen some of the biggest names in comedy - John Bishop, Eddie Izzard, Al Murray, Bill Bailey, Gina Yashere, Sean Lock and many others.

Next winter is stays in the same venue, Mayrhofen, but is moving dates and it takes place before Xmas from December 11th - 17th.

Lets hope there is plenty of snow, but with the Hintertux glacier nearby it should be OK.

The full line-up has not yet been announced but we can expect some big acts and a few surprises.

So far we know Andrew Maxwell, Zoe Lyons, Andy Askins, Daniel Sloss, Glenn Wool, Kai Humphries and The International Impro Allstars are on the bill.

PlanetSKI has been to the event many times - from when it was held in Meribel, France, back in 2010.

Through to the last few seasons when our PlanetSKI reporter and TV comedy critic, James Rampton, has taken part in proceedings.

The Altitude Festival intends to top the week off with a spectacular Festival of Light - lighting up the town of Mayrhofen with illuminations, free Glühwein and Austrian snacks to warm people up.

And, as it's Christmas, Mayrhofen will be laying on an Austrian Christmas Market in the nearby enchanted forest.
