CRYSTAL ADDS TRYSIL IN NORWAY
Tuesday August 2, 2016 - Email this article to a friend

Norway is becoming increasingly popular with British families and the largest UK tour operator is now offering another resort for next winter.

Crystal already offers Geilo, Hemsedal and Beitostolen and it takes 2,000 people per year to the slopes of Norway.

Now Trysil is being added.

It is Norway's largest ski area with 4 areas and 71km of pistes.

From the seven steep black slopes in Høgegga and a new high-speed chairlift to the red, blue and green slopes at Skihytta and Turistsenter with excellent nursery slopes.

Then there's Høyfjellssenter, which is good for beginners.

For tricksters and boarders, the Parken Trysil snow park is the place to play - it's got different areas for different abilities, right up to the resort's largest jump, Night'n.

PlanetSKI visited Trysil back in 2014 as we embarked on a road trip round a few ski resorts in Norway - see here for that report.

So what is Norway like?

Here at PlanetSKI we visit every year, usually in December, and love the country: its slopes, its people and the whole 'winter experience' with husky dog rides and cross-country skiing.

See here for our reports from last winter and here when we visited in early December 2014 and had the best snow of anywhere in Europe.

Trysil usually opens in November and stays open right through to the end of April.

"I am delighted that Crystal Ski has seen growth potential in Norway over and above their already very establish and exclusive charter operation to Fagernes Airport for Geilo, Hemsedal and Beitostolen. By offering Trysil from Winter 2016, Crystal Ski Holidays will most certainly help with the awareness of this great product and bring many more British tourist to the Norwegian Mountains," said the, Sales & Marketing Director for Norway - Home of Skiing, Trevor De Villiers.

"Trysil is Norway's largest ski resort with reliable snow and a good mix of ski runs - so it's a great addition to our programme. I'm thrilled that we are able to offer direct flights not just from Heathrow and Gatwick, but also from Manchester and Edinburgh.  I'm sure easier access will encourage more skiers and snowboarders to check-out for themselves how  good the skiing is in Norway, and also enjoy other winter activities like dog sledding, night skiing, horse sleigh riding, tobogganing and star gazing," said Crystal's Purchasing Manager, Michael Brabin.

There are two main resort accommodations: the Park Inn in Høyfjellsenter and the Radisson Blu in Turistsenter, which are both high quality and have excellent facilities. Nearly all the accommodation throughout Trysil is ski-in, ski-out.

Prices from £530 per person for a week's bed and breakfast at the Park Inn Hotel, with direct British Airways flights and airport transfers. A week's stay at the Park Inn Apartments costs from £350 per person (four sharing). Prices are based on 8 January 2017 departure flying from Heathrow to Oslo.

Direct flights from London Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Edinburgh to Oslo take two hours and transfer time is just over two hours and 30 minutes, making Trysil easy to access for families, couples or singles looking to ski Norway.
