MARK WARNER HEADS OFF PISTE

New for this winter, Mark Warner is offering exclusive off-piste weeks for a variety of ski levels as well as more weekend and short break options, and solo skiing packages. NEW

Mark Warner is teaming up with Henry Schniewind, the respected off-piste ski guide and avalanche expert.

He works mainly out of Val d'Isere in France.

PlanetSKI has been out on the slopes with him and he comes highly recommended by us.

He gives regular safety talks around the mountains.

There will be several courses available, and each week includes five full mornings of instruction, as well as talks and, of course, social meals.

In January 2014 there was a spate of fatal avalanches across the Alps.

There were warnings from some not to venture outside the marked runs- here at PlanetSKI we decided it was a good time to head off piste with Henry.

Henry's 'Introduction to off-piste':

This course is designed for confident on-piste skiers, ready to leave the safe haven of groomed runs and explore the world of back-country skiing.

There will be a course on 22nd January in Val d'Isere, staying at the Chalet Hotel.

Another will take place in Tignes on 26th February at the Chalet Hotel Ecrin.

The package includes seven nights at Chalet Hotel Le Val d'Isere and prices start at £819pp, plus £495pp for the off-piste course.

'Going further off-piste' - a more advanced course with Henry Schniewind:

This is tailored for competent off-piste skiers, looking to explore further and learn how to make decisions in avalanche terrain.

There is a course running from 29th January, again at the Chalet Hotel, Val d'Isere.

And another starting 5th March in the same Chalet Hotel Ecrin in Tignes.

The package includes seven nights, and the Val d'Isere course prices start at £899pp, plus £495pp for the off-piste course.

Henry is an expert in avalanche awareness and safety, and tours around giving presentations on the topic.

Mark Warner is also introducing new specialist ski weeks.

Guided skiing in France:

Local instructors will be used to guide guests around the slopes in French resorts, offering casual tips and relaxed instruction.

Customers can choose between four mornings or two mornings of guided skiing in a group of up to 10 guests.

Courses dates are:

- 8th January & 19th March at either the Chalet Hotel or Chalet Hotel Moris, both Val d'Isere.

- 15th January - Chalet Hotel Aiguille Percee, Tignes.

- 22nd January & 12th March - Chalet Hotel Ecrin, Tignes.

- 29th January & 26th February - Chalet Hotel Tarentaise, Meribel.

- 5th March - Chalet Hotel Christina, La Plagne.

A sample package for a seven-night trip, staying at Chalet Hotel Moris starts at £659pp, plus £140pp for four mornings or £70pp for two mornings of guided skiing.

These courses take place in Courchevel 1850.

Created with solo travellers, couples and groups of friends in mind to meet like-minded people who enjoy group skiing.

Daily lunches, après and evening activities are organised during the club weeks.

There are good deals for solo skiers.
