Hemel Hempstead's snow slope has got new sponsorship and has been celebrating Swiss style at the weekend.

The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead and Switzerland Tourism are celebrating their partnership this weekend at the indoor slope.

It kicked off on Friday at  Hemel Hempstead's ski slope.

There was  a live band with The Lodge Bar and Kitchen serving traditional Swiss food and drink.

On Saturday and Sunday the 160m snow slope had Swiss ski and snowboard instructors on hand, fresh from the Alps, to give tips to skiers and boarders on the snow.

"It was great have some 'live' elements from the Valais at The Snow Centre this weekend: we did not only bring over raclette and wines from the Valais but had also special cocktails with Valais spirits. In collaboration with our local partners Aletsch Arena, Val D'Anniviers and Saas-Fee we enjoyed getting in touch with the audience of The Snow Centre. All three resorts had brought over professional ski instructors who thought on the slopes," said Marcelline Kuonen, Head of Tourism Valais/Wallis Promotion.

It is a three partnership between the partner resorts of the Valais and the Snow Centre.

And after the skiing there was cocktail tasting in the bar on Friday and Saturday.

As well as the skiing (with discounted pass prices this weekend), there is a mini remote control pistenbully to entertain the children, and a St. Bernard dog in the Schuss Bar.

"We are very happy with the official launch event. Thanks to the partnership with The Snow Centre, we gain access to the specific segment of snow sports enthusiasts including a great amount of future potential customers like new skiers, schools, children and those who pick up skiing again after having a break," said Corinne Genoud, director Switzerland Tourism UK.

"In collaboration with The Snow Centre we can offer a fully integrated experience to the customer every step of the way: from their first lesson or first contact with snow at the indoor slope to their ski holiday in Switzerland. This gives us the opportunity to position Switzerland and the Valais as THE ski destination in front of new 'skiers' right from the start," added Corinne.

If you haven't had a chance to visit The Snow Centre before, take a look at what happens there.

The centre puts on events throughout the year to keep snowsports lovers going when not in the mountains.

Boarders owned the slope recently during The Snowboarders Asylum, which you can check out below.

The Snow Centre and its instructors run trips to Switzerland, the first one in October to Saas-Fee for glacier skiing.
