Monday October 17, 2016 - Email this article to a friend

The Canadian resort has been bought by Vail Resorts for £1b. The deal has now been approved by the financial authorities. NEW

The sale was made back in August as we reported at the time on PlanetSKI.

It shocked many in the snowsports world though those that keep their ear to the ground on these matters (PlanetSKI!) was not surprised and we scooped many to the news.

See here for our story that has the full details.

"Vail Resorts, Inc. today announced that the Company has closed on the acquisition of Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Canada," said a statement we have received today.

The full take over and integration will not take place until the winter of 2017/18 but in the meantime people who possess an Epic Pass will be able to have 5-days of skiing at Whistler.

"In celebration of closing, Vail Resorts is offering limited access for the 2016-17 winter season with full access to come for the 2017-18 ski season," said the statement.

The full season pass line-up with Whistler Blackcomb for 2017-18 will be announced when those passes go on sale in March 2017.
