"It is an absolute delight to be the first disability club to achieve Snowmark. This accreditation means that Aldershot Snowsports for the Disabled is recognised as a safe and rewarding place for disabled participants of all ages - as well as helping parents and carers know that they're choosing a well run Club," the ASD's Sarah Baldwin said.

The ASD provides opportunities for disabled people to experience skiing and snowboarding.

It organises trips throughout the year for those with disabilities to get onto the snow, but the main opportunities are its monthly sessions at the Aldershot dry ski slope.

"Club development is integral to the success of snowsport, and it is fantastic news that Aldershot Snowsports for the Disabled has become the first ever disability club to achieve this accolade," Chief Executive of Snowsport England, Tim Fawke, said.

"I believe initiatives that encourage clubs to develop skiers, snowboarders, coaches, volunteers and facilities can only be good for the long term prospects of snowsports in this country."
