More than twice as many students took part in National Schools Snowsport Week this year as in 2016. The video is out.

The event, the second of its kind, took place at the end of April and was aimed at getting more youngsters interested in snowsports.

A total of 2,353 students from 77 schools across England took part in the initiative, which was organised by Snowsport England and sponsored by Visit Andorra.

More than 20 centres offered taster sessions free or at heavily discounted prices.

Last year at the inaugural NSSW more schools signed up - 149 - but they sent fewer pupils, with just over 1,000 taking to the indoor or dry slopes to get a taste of skiing or snowboarding.

Snowsport England Events and Campaigns Lead, Luke Williams said the 2017 event had been very busy.

"We have seen many of the country's slopes busy with school groups for much of the week, and it has been great to see the enjoyment and smiles on the children's faces as they have tried skiing and snowboarding for the first time," he said.

"Our challenge now is to try and encourage these schools and children to keep participating in snowsports.

"We will work closely with the slopes and clubs to try and do this. A huge thanks for Andorra for supporting this important initiative."

Snowsport England have just released this video about the 2017 week:
