INDOOR SLOPESTYLE CHAMPS

The standard was high at the 2017 English Indoor Slopestyle Championships; Indoor ski & snowboard cross still to come! NEW

Skiers and snowboarders from the age of 7 turned out for the The English Indoor Slopestyle Championships earlier in June.

The 2017 competition took place at Snozone, Castleford with 70 competitors.

Battling it our for the titles the event collects together the best talent for skiing and snowboarding in England.

"We are delighted with the turn-out at Snozone for the English Slopestyle Champs," Talent Lead, Ian Findlay, at Snowsport England commented.

"We not only witnessed skiers and snowboarders who are on the verge of breaking onto the GB Park and Pipe scene, but also young riders who were able to get their first taste of competition and gain invaluable event experience," he added.

A snowboarding training session kicked off the day before the riders took to their qualification runs.

Josh Cook, Billy Cockrell and Lewis Moore lead the way in the men's qualification round and continued to lead to take the medals in the final.

Battling it out for the top 3 in the finals of the female's snowboarding category was Cerys Allen, Mia Brooks and Jade Walsh.

With a fall on run 1, Allen came through on her second run to take the English Champion title.

Lewis Moore impressed on his second run to take the title in the men's final.

The skiers took to the slopes in the afternoon.

Kirsty Muir was up front from the qualification stage and took the top spot in the finals, ahead of Oliva Burke and Alexandra Brown.

Justin Taylor Tipton, Chris McCormick, Haydyn Fiori and Tom Greenway were all battling for top 3 out of the male skiers.

McCormick took the finals with Taylor Tipton and Fiori second and third.

The judging criteria:
  • Difficulty
  • Amplitude
  • Variety
  • Execution
  • Style

Each run will be scored out of 100 with the best score of the two runs taken.

The final English Indoor Championships, Ski and Snowboard Cross, will take place on 29th July.
