The UK ski operator has attracted £6m of investement to grow in the ski market but also to extend into the general adventure holidays area. NEW

The multi-million pound investment comes from Mobeus Equity Partners and is part of a secondary management buyout.

Ski Solutions has turned itself from more than a ski operator in recent years as it has expanded into cycling holidays and summer activity breaks.

The new move will see it developing into the adventure holidays market as the company looks to enhance its current portfolio of brands with further activities acquisitions.

"We have a fantastic team assembled and the right backing to increase further our market share in ski, and build the group out from our established cycle brands into the growing soft activities and adventure holiday market," said the CEO of Ski Solutions, Craig Burton.

It is not the only ski operator now looking at other active holidays in the mountains and beyond, as we reported earlier this summer:
Ski Solutions prides itself on its advice and excellence in client service to a widening range of activity holidays.

It began life as a winter travel agency.

Last year it celebrated its 30th birthday as we reported at the time:
In 2010 there was a management buyout.

More recently the company moved into the summer cycling market acquiring Bspoke Tours in October 2014 and Cycling for Softies in October 2015.

The company has achieved more than 20% growth over the past three years and Mobeus is planning to provide significant follow-on funding for bolt-on acquisitions.

This will aim to accelerate growth within the rapidly expanding activities and adventure segment.

John Wimbleton joins the company as chairman.

He is a travel industry executive with more than 35 years experience on the Group Management Board at TUI Travel plc, and more recently at Scott Dunn.

"Ski Solutions has a unique business model being both a travel operator and travel agency business and is well positioned to capitalise on the interesting market dynamics in the travel sector at the moment," said John Wimbleton.

"To continue their exciting growth story, Craig and his team are actively looking for complementary travel businesses that share their best in class client service and bespoke approach to luxury activity holidays," he added.
