It's an exciting season ahead in the French resort as it hosts the first women's parallel slalom. And there's more... NEW

World Cup: Parallel Slalom

It is to be the 1st women's parallel slalom event in the history of the 'white circus'.

And it'll be a good week for racing in Courchevel.

It will take place the day after the giant slalom event.

The world's best female skiers will be on the staring line.

FIS World Cup:

18,000 spectators are expected in resort both on the GS and parallel slalom event days.

It looks to be a glamorous occasion, not just because it is to be hosted by Courchevel.

A helmet designed by popstar David Cintract is awarded each year to the fastest skier.

Tina Maze and Eva-Maria Brem are previous winners at the Emile-Allais stadium.

Courchevel - Meribel has been selected as the French candidate to host the 2023 Alpine Skiing World Championships.

The French Skiing Federation president, Michel Vion, thinks this joint candidature stands every chance of success.

The vote will take place during the Athens FIS convention in May 2018.

Three alpine skiers and two ski jumpers should represent Courchevel in the Pyeongchang Olympic Games.

Alexis Pinturault, who won a medal in the Sochi Games in 2014, is one of them.

Anne-Sophie Barthet, Taïna Barioz, Léa Lemare and Lucile Morat should also fly the flag in the upcoming Olympics.
