The Scottish team riders have taken the honours for a second year as Championship Ski and Snowboard 2017 concludes. NEW

Bearsden again proved their dominance of the UK freestyle ski and snowboard scene by claiming for the second year running both the ski and snowboard crowns.

Championship Ski And Snowboard (CSS) is GB Park and Pipe's online video league which had its debut season last summer.

This year six ski and snowboard teams featuring 64 skiers and 52 snowboarders from indoor and dry slopes across the country battled it out for five months in head to head matches.

The riders' tricks were submitted on video and judged against those of their counterparts.

The league is set up to showcase young freestyle talent.

This season more than half of the 116 CSS competitors were aged 16 or under with the youngest competitors just five years old.

After taking both titles in 2016, Bearsden again impressed judges in all their matches, but this year they were challenged right to the line, particularly in the snowboarding competition.

They finished the season in a tie on match points with Scottish rivals Braehead, but Bearsden were crowned Champions based on the accumulation of all scores throughout the season.

Bearsden won the Ski contest outright with Aberdeen taking the second spot ahead of Tamworth who finished with the same points as Aberdeen.

CSS 2017 - Aberdeen V Bearsden round 5 skiing:

"CSS is a great way to connect British slopes through rivalry and banter. But more importantly it serves as an invisible and very effective motivational tool for our most promising young athletes," said BBC Ski Sunday presenter, Ed Leigh.

"In essence CSS is a modest grass roots system working like a high-end development programme and what's more it's fun and completely unique in the world of free skiing and snowboarding.

"I have no doubt that I will be commentating on the kids who are competing now at the Olympics in 2022, 2026 and beyond."

Bearsden win £2000 for both the ski and snowboard competitions, with Aberdeen and Braehead being awarded the runners up prize of £1000.

Half of the prize money must be spent on slope improvements.

The money is donated by CSS sponsors The Snowboard Asylum, Ellis Brigham, and Delancey.

There are also prizes for category winners.

The awards ceremony takes place at SnowFactor, Braehead on Friday 20th October.
