Are you an adrenaline junkie looking to push your skiing to the next level? Check this for testing those new limits.

Zell am See and Kaprun are resorts near Salzburg that share the same ski pass.

Schmittenhöhe is the mountain of Zell am See, and the Kitzsteinhorn the name of the glacier that makes Kaprun.

This area is a PlanetSKI favourite and gives that true Austrian village feel on the grand setting around a lake - and with top skiing.

So the serenity comes from the location and the cobblestone streets of the chic town.

But what about the part that gets your blood pumping?

'Feel the freedom'

Freeriding in Zell - Kaprun:

There are powder lines, cliff jumps and natural pipes found on the five freeride routes at the Kitzsteinhorn.

The Freeride XXL signing makes the  glacier accessible and a hotspot in the Alps.

The signposted freeride routes at the Kitzsteinhorn:

  • Ice Age
  • Westside Story
  • Left Wing
  • Jump Run
  • Pipe Line
The glacier means there's snow at the high altitude ski area at 3,000m.

Early season tricks here?!

Freeride Mondays:

It's safety first, always on the mountain.

And the SKI DOME Oberschneider and Hartweger's Ski & Snowboard School give technique classes, advice and safety tips on freeriding.

Anyone from 13 years old can take these and the region's pros offer starter to advanced programmes.

Jib, grind, jump and test your personal limits...

The Kitzsteinhorn has more than just one park:

There's the Glacier Park, Easy Park, Central Park and the mighty Superpipe.

And thanks to its altitude, the glacier park is often open from mid-October.

The Easy Park is the one for you freestylers just starting out.

The Superpipe is legendary -160m long and 6.6m high.

Schmittenhöhe has another!

Right next to the XXL Funslope is Zell's park with butter boxes, wave boxes and kickers.

Enough for a holiday?

Pistes for Experts:

Steep, steeper, Trass & Black Mamba.

These two pistes are challenging blacks.

Push your carving on the serious inclines and feel the leg burn!

Trass and Standard are the two black pistes leading from Schmittenhöhe into the valley.

So they're long...

The conditions on the runs are grand as there's little sunlight on these pistes.

You need the stamina, power and good skiing technique to ski these top to bottom.

Trass takes up 1,000 vertical metres and is 4,150m in length with an incline of 70%.

It's a classic.

And there's the Trass Run hosted by the Zell am See Ski Club - an event for real skiers and fans of a wild ride on the region's blackest piste.

The Skicircus is another mega ski area made up of Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Saalfelden Leogang and Fieberbrunn.

It's also in the state of Salzburg in the Kitzbühel Alps.

And it truly is a freeriding mecca.

Tracks in the snow, the sound of snow crunching, the adrenaline pumping terrain to come.

There are various freeride parks, numerous freeride routes with different levels of difficulty, information points, avalanche beacon search fields and checkpoints powered by ORTOVOX.

Just watch this...

Another adrenaline inducing event in Saalbach is the Rave on Snow.

Hardcore skiers and partyers this is the place for you.

Three days and three nights, practically no sleep...

It's full throttle for the 24th edition.

Check out the 70 DJs & live acts here!

The Skicircus is one of Austria's largest linked ski areas stretching from Tirol to SalzburgerLand.

Why this winter?

The 'ski your limit' challenge includes 69km of pistes, 12,000m vertical descent and seven hours on the skis.

And then there's this, for extra kicks...
