The US company has completed the deal to buy the Californian resort of Kirkwood for $18m. It already owns Heavenly and Northstar around Lake Tahoe. The area is undergoing a transformation.
The announcement caught many by surprise when Vail Resorts announced earlier this winter that it had agreed in principle to buy the resort for $18m.
Many saw it as a bargain but the current owners have retained options on real estate and a participation interest in the base area.
We reported on the deal at the time.
The whole area is undergoing something of a transformation as it looks to rival the main US ski areas of Colorado and Utah.
Other resorts around Lake Tahoe are linking, new infrastructure is being built and there is talk of an Olympic bid.
