COUNTDOWN TO ENGLISH ALPINE CHAMPIONSHIPS
6th February 2020
Last modified on May 15th, 2021
The competition is Snowsport England’s premier alpine event and the biggest British week of winter ski racing. It’s on in Bormio this month.
The 24th English Alpine Championships take place in the Italian resort from Sunday 16th to Friday 21st February.
Hundreds of the UK’s best skiers, along with their families, will be there.
Every year, children as young as 8 compete, alongside senior skiers.
In 2020 the Championships return to the ski and spa town of Bormio, which will host the men’s alpine events in the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The event continues to act as a gateway for future alpine world champions and Olympic stars. GB’s World Cup slalom specialist Dave Ryding started his competitive career at the English Alpine Championships.
The Opening Parade takes place on Saturday 15th February, with the racing daily from the Sunday.
There are Super G, GS and slalom races plus a nighttime Team Parallel Slalom under the floodlights.
The English Alpine Championships consistently result in a big turnout of not only competitiors but coaches, parents, supporters and volunteers.
The 2020 event is sponsored by Bormio Tourism, Rossignol, Halsbury Ski, Ski Bartlett, Ski Bitz, Racer Ready, Ski Club of Great Britain and Vitalini.
You can follow all the action including results and photos from the Championships, on the Snowsport England Facebook page, Twitter @SnowsportEng or Instagram @snowsportengland
