PlanetSKI partner MPI Brokers provides advice on what to do if your insurance is about expire while you are abroad.
Some UK residents are still abroad unable to return home due to ongoing travel restrictions.
Some have decided to batten down the hatches where they are in order to not put themselves at any more risk and others are finding it impossible to return.
What they might find is that their travel insurance policy has, or is about to, expire and the majority of travel insurance policies cannot be purchased while outside your country of residence.
So what are your options?
Usually insurance does automatically extend for a certain amount of time as you can’t physically get back, however this can only usually be for a couple of months (policies differ).
At MPI it’s three months.
MPI insurance is providing policies which are able to be purchased outside of your country of residence and are available for one to 12 month periods.
