GB’s Izzy Atkin Takes Silver at the X Games

She was competing in the ski slopestyle in Aspen, Colorado. She was taken to hospital after a crash on her 4th run but is none the worse for the accident. NEW

It was the second X Games medal for Atkin, who won silver in the same event in 2018.

GB Snowsport said she was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital on Saturday after having tests for concussion as a precautionary measure.

She has now been discharged.

For the 22-year old it was her fifth appearance at the X Games.

After her silver in the Ski Slopestyle in 2018 she followed that up with bronze at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics the next month.

Three other British freestyle skiers have been competing at the X Games – Izzy’s sister Zoe, James Woods and Gus Kenworthy.

On Friday Izzy Atkin finished sixth in big air with sister Zoe fourth in the superpipe.

Kenworthy, who used to compete for the US, was sixth in the men’s superpipe competition.

We previewed the X Games, and the other GB athletes in action, earlier on PlanetSKI.

The four-time X Games medallist, James Woods, competed in the Big Air.

He came 7th.

29-year old Woodsy was returning to X Games action after missing out in 2020.

The 2017 X Games Ski Big Air Champion and four-time bronze medallist was forced to sit out most of last season with a nasty knee injury.

In the meantime our congratulations go to Izzy Atkin on her second silver medal at the X Games.
