Chill Factore is Bought by The Snow Centre

The operators of The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead are adding a second indoor facility to their business – the Chill Factore in Manchester. UPDATED

It has bought the Chill Factore from its owners U&I.

Chill Factore has two indoor real snow slopes – a 180m main slope, the longest in the UK, and a 40m lesson slope – plus a designated fun zone for sledging and snow play.

The complex also has cafés, bars, and restaurants as well as retail brands, such as Evans Cycles and Snow & Rock.

It has been reported that the Chill Factore was put on the market with an asking price of £20m in January 2021, but no details have been revealed about the financial aspects of the deal.

U&I said that the sale is part of its ongoing strategy to dispose of non-core assets and boost its balance sheet.

“It complements our existing business extremely well and was the most obvious way to expand our role in the growing UK Snowsports industry,” said the Managing Director of Snow Centres Ltd, Ian Brown.

“We are hugely excited by the prospect of working with a highly accomplished Chill Factore team and building on their considerable success to date.”

Chill Factore re-opens on April 12th as pandemic restrictions are lifted.

The Snow Centre has a 160m Main Slope, the largest UK Lesson Slope and The Lodge Bar & Kitchen overlooking the slopes.

In a normal year it sees around 230,000 skiers and snowboarders on its slopes.

It too re-opens on April 12th.
