The iconic US resort that is a firm favourite of PlanetSKI is firing up its lifts in time for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday. Here we look at the resort and what the season may hold in store. NEW
This Thursday, November 25th, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort officially kicks off its winter season offering 137 days of skiing and snowboarding.
It is set to close on April 10th 2022.
“Mother Nature has been off to a slow start on the lower mountain, but with increased snowmaking capacity and a dedicated staff working around the clock, we are thrilled to open our lifts this Thursday,” said JHMR President, Mary Kate Buckley.
“We are opening limited terrain and as conditions allow, we plan to run all lifts at full capacity while limiting daily capacity in an effort to make an even more memorable guest experience.
It’s going to be a wonderful year to visit JHMR, and we look forward to seeing you on the mountain.”
The Teewinot Chairlift, Sweetwater Gondola to the mid-station, Après Vous Lift and the Solitude covered surface lift are scheduled to run.
Additional lifts and terrain will open as snow and weather conditions permit.
Jackson Hole is on the IKON Pass lift ticket group.
“Early conditions exist; please watch for unmarked obstacles,” said the resort.
The JHMR Aerial Tram will run for sightseeing and waffles service at Corbet’s Cabin.
No ski equipment is allowed, and masks are required in the Aerial Tram and inside buildings.
The resort has made a host of improvements for this coming season including a maintenance project on the Aerial Tram that is needed every 12 years.
There’s more:
· The resort has at least two runs with snowmaking from each lift. Jackson Hole added to snow making capacity with snow making on Upper Wide Open. The snowmaking gun fleet was also upgraded by increasing energy efficiency and adding high-production guns.
· The resort moved 6,000 cubic yards of rock from Ship’s Prow to widen the Rendezvous Traverse and has gladed 6 acres to enlarge the skiable terrain.
· A toilet and washroom facility has been built at the top of the Teton Lift.
· Teton Village Sports has been renovated to offer more equipment and reservations for boot-fitting service can be booked through JH Sports.
· There’s a new locker room on the third floor of the Bridger Center.
