Union Flag in the Snow Welcomes Brits Back to Les Arcs

The flag is a physical sign of welcome to British skiers and snowboarders following the decision of the French government to lift the ban on non-essential travel from the UK. NEW

It is part of a design created in the snow at Arc 2000 by artist Simon Beck.

Les Arcs is a popular destination for British snowsports fans.

And the resort is a huge fan of its British visitors.

Before Covid-19 struck, it held an annual Great British Celebration week towards the end of the winter season.

It was the idea of its anglophile Mayor, Michel Giraudy.

It last took place in 2019 and PlanetSKI was there in 2018.

With almost half its overseas visitors coming from the UK, it’s not surprising that they’re pulling out the stops to mark their return.

There’s a big demand for ski trips in France this season.

Bookings have taken off, according to UK ski tour operators and travel companies.

Here at PlanetSKI, we hope to be returning to the slopes of France soon so watch this space.
