Resorts In Andorra Raise Prices Sharply for Half Term

The Grandvalira area is raising the price of a day lift ticket by 20%. Some airport to resort transfers have gone up by 25% and hotels are reportedly raising their prices as demand increases.

The price at the ticket window of a 1-day lift pass will increase to €65  (£58).

The changes applied  from Friday 27/01/23 for the whole period between 11/02/23 and 25/02/23.

Multiday pass prices will also be ‘modified’ between both dates.

“Please consult prices at the Sales guide website,” says a statement from Grandvalira resorts.

Soldeu, Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig are the main resorts in the area.

We were informed of the rise by the UK operator, Absolutely Snow, that specialises in holidays to Andorra.

It is disappointed with the move.

“Andorra still represents great value for money and offers wonderful skiing throughout the principality but I do think some of our guests will start to question the cost of the ski pass,” said Duncan Gilroy from Absolutley Snow.

“One guest asked me just yesterday how can the ski pass in Andorra be more expensive than the Arlberg ski Pass they bought in St Anton?” Duncan added.

Prices in many ski resorts have gone up this winter, and it is one of the most grumbles we hear from  skiers and snowboarders.

It is not uncommon for a large beer in some of the French alpine resorts to be €10.

We paid that in a roadside bar in St Foy on the way up to Tignes and Val d’Isere.

Though a beer in a bar in Bosel on the way up to Courchevel and Meribel cost €6.

This bowl of fairly average goulash soup was 12chf (£10.80) in the Ruinettes self-service restaurant in Verbier.
