After a lean period the Scottish ski resorts finally have some snow. The eastern resorts have had the best of it and PlanetSKI has been making some turns in the Lecht. UPDATED
An arctic blast has hit the UK and the resorts in Scotland have seen some snow, with cold temperatures.
Kinbrace in the Highlands recorded the coldest March night in the UK since 2010 after the temperature fell to -15.4C.
It has led to snow in the ski areas.
Snowsport Scotland said it hoped the recent weather would be “the start to another boost for the mountains”.
“Looking at the forecast, this could be our biggest week of the year,” said Alison Grove from Snowsport Scotland.
One resort reported up to 35cm of fresh snow and the sun has made an appearance.
“Winter has returned to the highlands,” said PlanetSKI’s Scotland reporting team, Rod and Dianne Frazer.
“After a very mild February we finally have northerly airflows dominating highland weather for the foreseeable
“Even down in the village of Newtonmore we had -15 degrees last night under clear skies.
“So far the East of the country has had the best of the new snow but we still need more.
“The Lecht and Cairngorm have so far benefitted the most.
“The Lecht now has decent cover but still thin, luckily the hill isn’t rocky so the meagre new snow pack is still sufficient to provide superb sport.
“The upper mountain on Cairngorm still had a decent base so is now in great shape with the addition of the new snow.
“Glenshee is offering limited intermediate and beginner skiing on mainly manmade snow.
“In the West, Glencoe and Nevis Range still require more snow to reopen for snow sports.
“However with plenty of arctic air continuing to dominate the forecast it feels like only a matter of time before all the ski areas will get their fair share of the white stuff.
“We are still snow dancing here in the Highlands but at least winter is back!”
Rod and Dianne Frazer, have been making a few turns in The Lecht.

And in nearby Cairngorm:
“It’s calm, clear and sunny which is forecast all day and a temperature of -11C rising to -9C,” said the resort.
“We have some lovely snow conditions with 35cm of fresh cold powdery snow from yesterday.”
A truly amazing day yesterday for everyone who was out in the hills. Check out what a fantastic time our ski tourers had! It’s not too late to join us in making the most of the winter while it’s here
