The French skier Simon Billy set a new World Record with 255km per hour in Vars, France. That’s a staggering 157mph and beats the speed record set 7 years ago.
The 31-year old Frenchman, Simon Billy, set a new World Record with 255.50 km per hour in Vars, France – that’s 158.45 mph.
He did it during the Speed Masters 2023 event in the French resort.
Skiers can reach 200 km per hour in less than 6 seconds and an average speed is taken over a 100 metre section of the slope.
It beats the record set in 2016 that was held by the Italian Ivan Origone, who reached a speed of 254.958 km per hour.
Simon Billy won the world overall title at Speed Masters for the second consecutive year.
Simone Origone, the brother of the now ex-world record holder, and the Austrian speed skier Manuel Kramer were in second and third place.
