Gweneth Paltrow Wins Ski Crash Court Case

The Hollywood actress was found not liable for a collision in Deer Valley in Utah in 2016. After the verdict she thanked the jurors and spoke to the man who accused her. UPDATED
A retired optometrist Terry Sanderson, 76, had said that Ms Paltrow crashed into him, inflicting life-changing injuries.
Mr Sanderson, was as seeking $300,000 (£245,000) in damages.
Jurors sided with Ms Paltrow, 50, who blamed Mr Sanderson for the accident and countersued him for $1 plus legal fees.
Listening to the verdict in court, Ms Paltrow was expressionless.
She stared straight ahead and appearing to nod slightly.
She then left the court.
In a statement released after the verdict, she said she was “pleased” with the outcome.
“I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity,” she said.
“I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”
Mr Sanderson said the verdict was “very disappointing”.

As she left the court, she briefly stopped to speak to Mr Sanderson.
He later said she told him: “I wish you well.”
He replied: “Thank you dear.”
It all hinged on who was the uphill skier and the FIS code of safety.
People crashing into each other on the slopes is becoming more of an issue, as we have reported earlier.
The issue of collisions on the slopes is an important one: the rules, what speeds are safe, how much responsibility people have and the concentration levels required.
There are about 100 code-related lawsuits underway in the USA with most cases settled before reaching court.
All that got rather overlooked in this particular court case.
