There has been some snow at over 2,000m as autumn gets underway.
A cold front with precipitation moved in from the west last weekend – that meant snow at altitude.

On Monday it was replaced by blue sky.
A dusting fell at the highest resort in the Alps at 2,300m, Val Thorens:

It’s looking good in nearby La Plagne.
It has been falling since Friday.
The snow is not expected to last thought with the freezing level rising to 4,000m after the weekend.
But it is a sign that winter is on its way.
Some Austrian glacier areas are set to open some slopes over the next few weeks.
Kaunertal in the Tirol has seen snow.
Hintertux is already open and has seen some of the fresh snow too.
Pitztal in the Tirol opened on Saturday.
In Switzerland Saas-Fee and Zermatt are open.
PlanetSKI has been in the Alps and the Pyrenees for the past couple of weeks as we visit the Pyrenees, Alps and Jura + follow the Rugby World Cup:
“Summer is most definitely turning into autumn with a drop in the temperature, a dusting of snow at altitude and the leaves changing,” said PlanetSKI editor James Cove who is currently in Chambery in the French Alps.
“We were out hiking yesterday and the autumn crocus (Colchicum) also knows as ‘naked lady’ was out in the high-alpine pastures, a sure sign that the seasons are changing,” said James.
He’s been hiking to the Croix du Nivolet at 1,513m. where there are some fabulous alpine views.
